The port sector plays an important role in the green transition of the maritime industry. Ports can play the role of initiators and facilitators for circular economy initiatives bringing together the various stakeholders. Ports facilitate material flow and host numerous activities related to the collection, transport and treatment of waste providing diverse opportunities for closing the loops and minimising waste generation.
Port areas, as a logistics hub can contribute to the green agenda through various circular economy initiatives.
